Who We Are
The Food Project began in Ashland, Oregon, in 2009, when neighbors created a simple door-to-door system to collect and share food with people in need. This straightforward model inspired more than 60 similar Food Projects nationwide, including over 15 in Oregon.
The Nutrition Oregon Campaign (NOC) Yamhill Hub learned about this approach and decided to bring it to Yamhill County. With guidance, resources, and practical knowledge from the founder and the Crook County Green Bags team, planning for the Yamhill Food Project officially began in June 2025.
The NOC is a statewide network of communities and organizations working to address the root causes of chronic disease. The Yamhill team, formed in 2022, brings together local organizations and community members committed to improving access to healthy food.
The OHSU Moore Institute developed the NOC in conjunction with Yamhill County HHS, YCCO, OSU Health Extension, Physicians Medical Center, SNACK, YCAP, Head Start, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center, and others.
What We Do
• Provide a sustainable, year-round supply of food for our neighbors who, for whatever reason, find themselves food insecure.
• Create new neighborhood connections and strengthen community.
• Serve as a model for other communities and organizations.
